Letter #6 - In which we improvise everything we’ve learned by heart.
“Improvisation is falling down a hill, not getting hurt, and looking like you meant to do it.”
In my case this is called ‘dumb luck’, but I’m sure other, better, more adjusted people do just fine improvising :). You should complete the motion if you stumble though, that’s just common knowledge.
Boy brought power
Hear me call
Admit it, you half-expected the lyrics to start with “I’m tryna put you in the worst mood, ah”, didn’t you?
This post focuses (…) on applying machine learning models, including the preprocessing steps. The pipelines discussed in this post come as a result of over a hundred machine learning competitions that I’ve taken part in. It must be noted that the discussion here is very general but very useful and there can also be very complicated methods which exist and are practised by professionals.
I know, I know, this is from almost two years ago so it must be ancient history. That aside, it’s a great guide for whenever you want to do some good ol’ fashioned machine learning. I love that it doesn’t try to teach you the how, but chooses to focus on the what and the why instead. Having the author’s considerable ML experience distilled into a framework is a nice boon, so you should bookmark this for later.
